Abstracts for analytical papers are invited on the topic of ‘Innovations in communications: The role of users, industry and policy’.

The EuroCPR 2008 agenda covers policy initiatives with implications for innovations, including services, process, and organisational innovations. Papers on policy challenges arising from technology and market innovations are especially welcome. We welcome papers on social innovations relating to the so-called Web 2.0 developments, including those addressing social innovation services and issues related to user-generated content.

Papers can either be concerned with specific issues such as competition policies or IPR (patents and copyright) or with more comprehensive analyses of innovation systems. The agenda includes the issues surrounding network neutrality and their implications for innovation in application sectors. Moreover, the coherence of different policy initiatives is a theme to be examined. We welcome comparative analyses of innovation policies and their implications, whether focused on Europe, North America, Asia or other parts of the world.

Examples of areas to be analysed could be:
• i2010 related policy initiatives
• Policies for new content platforms
• The 2007 communications policy review
• Network neutrality
• Standardisation and interoperability
• IPR policies
• User driven innovations
• Web 2.0 – hype and reality

EuroCPR’s aim is to stimulate reflection on policy matters related to ICT. Papers must be empirically and theoretically well grounded and bear upon policy issues.

Deadline for the submission of abstracts: 1 November 2007
