Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar said that seven states have been proposed to come up with their own models to roll-out broadband in India. If these states choose a state led model, the existing NOFN architecture is proposed to be replaced by these under the BharatNet program.

The new BaratNet programme which replaces NOFN has a threefold cost increment. (Rs. 72,778 crore from Rs. 20,000 crore )
