Lasantha is a researcher working on the Big Data for Development (BD4D) project. He previously worked as a Senior Software Engineer at WSO2, a leading IT company in Sri Lanka, where he was a key member of the Complex Event Processor (CEP) team. He holds a BSc (Hons) Degree in Computer Science & Engineering from University of Moratuwa. He is currently pursuing a research-based MSc in Computer Science at the same university.
His research on spatiotemporal forecasting of dengue outbreaks using machine learning and mobile network big data was presented in NetMob, 2017. His areas of interest include Distributed Systems, High-Performance Computing and Machine Learning. He also likes to play online chess during his spare time.
