Based on the theme for the World Dialogue on Regulation’s 4th research and dialogue cycle, and building on previous WDR research, especially that conducted in 2004 (investment and regulation) and 2005 (network expansion), LIRNEasia’s research for 2006 and 2007 includes a multi-component six country research study on measuring telecom sector and regulatory performance, with emphasis on effects on the poor and women; a study on reducing transaction costs in agricultural markets; and a capacity and field-building program, Communication Policy Research: south (CPRsouth), that seeks to develop an Asia-Pacific scholarly networks on ICT policy and regulation supported by LIRNEasia as a viable virtual organization. LIRNEasia will also conduct the 11th Telecom Training Course in association with LIRNE.net as part of its capacity and field-building program.
