Helani Galpaya at GIZ, Berlin

Helani Galpaya was one of the keynote speakers at the event titled “Shaping a digital future for all: Our voice, our data, our privacy”,  organised by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), in Berlin, Germany on the 14th of June 2019. The other keynote was given by UN Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, David Kaye. The keynotes were followed by a series of panels that addressed digital rights issues. Panelists included Ulf Buermeyer (Gesellschaft für Freiheitsrechte), Nighat Dad (Digital Rights Foundation Pakistan), Sabine Frank (Google Germany), Lorena Jaume-Palasí (Algorithm Watch), Caroline Kent (Tactical Tech Collective), Constanze Kurz (netzpolitik.org), Miguel Luengo-Oroz (UN Global Pulse), Lina Ben Mhenni (Blogger, Tunisia), Semjon Rens (Facebook Germany), Lena Rohrbach (Amnesty International) and Nanjira Sambuli (Web Foundation Kenya).
