Gayani Hurulle

Research Manager


Gayani is a Research Manager at LIRNEasia, focusing primarily on behaviours pertaining to the use of ICTs developing Asia. She is currently studying user perceptions of online harassment, privacy and security in Myanmar. Gayani also carried out qualitative research in India, focusing on local behaviours to optimise their consumption expenditure.
She has also been involved in the questionnaire design and analysis of data from nationally representative surveys on ICT use and information needs in Myanmar, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Pakistan and India.
Gayani has coordinated of capacity building programmes for government officials in Myanmar including members of Union Parliament, Yangon Regional Parliament and the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
Gayani holds a BSc in Economics with First Class (Honours) from the University of London.
