Lara is responsible for the compilation of LIRNEasia ’s Broadband Benchmark report under the guidance of Rohan Samarajiva (Ph.D.) and Helani Galpaya ; the report is published twice a year and attempts to capture the changes in the prices and the quality of service of broadband and leased line services in the Asia-Pacific. She is also involved in research on Korea and the Information Society and the way in which it can be replicated in the South Asian region. Lara has also worked on compiling the Telecom Regulatory Environment (TRE) manual, for use as a benchmark in undertaking future TRE studies.
Before joining LIRNEasia , Lara was attached to a United Nations Development Project dealing with poverty alleviation where she worked as an intern; she also completed internship programs with Outokumpu, Australia .
Lara holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Sydney , with majors in Government and International relations and International Business and a minor in Political Economy. She also has an ATCL in both Singing and Speech from the Trinity College of London and pursues these interests in her private time.
