Kasun Amarasinghe

Kasun who is a Research Fellow at LIRNEasia, is also a Postdoctoral Researcher in Machine Learning & Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University. He is part of a team which focuses on educating current and future policymakers, doing data science projects with government, nonprofit, academic, and foundation partners, and developing new methods and open-source tools that support and extend the use of data science for public policy and social impact.

Kasun holds a B.Sc. (University of Peradeniya) and a Ph.D. (Virginia Commonwealth University) in Computer Science and his primary research interests include the explainability of complex “black-box” machine learning algorithms and the applications of such algorithms to the public sector.”
