Pradeepa Jayaratne is a Senior Academic, researcher and consultant in Transport and Logistics where she has experience in the field for over 20 years. She completed her Ph.D. at the Sydney Business School (SBS) of University of Wollongong in 2015, Australia. She has also completed her Master of Science in Logistics and graduated with a Distinction award from University of Wollongong (UoW), Australia in 2007. She has worked as an academic in transport and logistics at Department of Transport & Logistics Management, University of Moratuwa. Prior to that, she has served as a Lecturer at SBS. She has served as a visiting academic to many academic institutes including University of Moratuwa, Ocean University Sri Lanka, NSBM and CINEC maritime campus.
She has been an active professional in transport and logistics field where she has undertaken many research and has published widely in Transport and Logistics field. She has been an active member of many consultancy projects for a number of institutes in Sri Lanka including both government and private agencies in transport and logistics including institutes such as World Bank, Ministry of Transport, and Passenger Transport. Currently, she serves a Consultant for World Bank, UN-Habitat, and Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development.
She is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics (CILT) since 2005. She has been an active member of CILT where she served as the Vice-Chairperson of CILTSL in 2016/2017 and served as the Hon. Secretary from 2005 to 2010. She is also a Life Member of the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science, Sri Lanka since 2003 and served as Section C committee member from 2004 to 2006.
She has published over 30 journals and peer-reviewed conference papers and also co-authored two books in transport and logistics field. She also serves as a reviewer for several international and local conferences and served as an editor and reviewer for the Solution Manual of the Text Book on Australian Business Statistics 2E for John Wiley & Sons Australia Ltd, October 2010.
She has won several awards during her professional life. Among them, the world prestigious Australian Leadership Award offered by the AusAID for her Ph.D. studies in Australia and other awards such as ADB scholarship to undertake a training program at University of Calgary, Canada and International Postgraduate Tuition Award from the University of Wollongong to complete her PhD are the key awards she has won in the past. She has also won several best research paper awards for her research work carried out during last few years.
