Mytel, the fourth entrant in the Myanmar market, aims to be first. According to them, the question is not whether, but when.

The fourth telecom operator, Myanmar National Tele and Communications Co Ltd (Mytel), said its investment has reached to about US$1 billion (1.36 trillion kyat) including the license fee in Myanmar.

The telecommunication sector has the highest level of foreign investment. Although has faced difficulties building basic infrastructure, the company said it is still aiming to meet its target.

Mytel has publicly stated its intention to become the biggest and best telecom operator despite being the fourth and last entry into the Myanmar market. Viettel from Vietnam, which is a foreign investor in Mytel, has stated that the company could be the best performer in other countries even after inaugurating services after other competitors.

They became the largest telecom providers in Vietnam within four years, in Laos and Cambodia within two years, in East Timor within one year and in Burundi within six months.
