Ms Thiruchelvam served as a member of the Board of Directors of LIRNEasia from 11.03. 2005 to 01.05.2009.
An attorney at law, she was the Managing Partner of Tiruchelvam Associates – a leading corporate law firm in Colombo; a Trustee of the Neelan Tiruchelvam Trust – a fund she founder in the memory of her husband, Neelan Tiruchelvam dedicated to the promotion of human rights and pluralism.
She also served on the boards of several non profit organizations including the Nadesan Centre for Human Rights; South Asians for Human Rights and the Family Rehabilitation Centre. She was a founding member of Foundations for Peace, based in Northern Ireland, and the Neelan Tiruchelvam Trust and also served as a member of the parallel code review committee on Sri Lanka’s Editors’ Guild Code of Ethics. She was a non-executive director of John Keells Holdings and Galadari Hotels Lanka Limited.
