Nirmali joined LIRNEasia in June 2026 as a Communications Assistant, where she supports content development, knowledge dissemination, and digital communications initiatives, helping LIRNEasia engage diverse audiences and extend the reach of its research and policy work.
Prior to joining LIRNEasia, she was a member of the editorial team at Media Services, where she contributed articles to publications such as LMD, GreenCover, Essence, and Brands Annual. In this role, she conducted interviews with the company’s corporate clients and leading Sri Lankan personalities while also assisting with research.
She also interned previously with both the communications and research teams at Advocata. As part of the Communications Team at Advocata, she contributed to content development and managed the organisation’s website, social media platforms, and events. With the research team, she contributed to a podcast with MAS Holdings under the Women’s Policy Action Network (WPAN) project, which focused on women’s empowerment in Sri Lanka. She also helped co-write a policy brief titled The Role of Public-Private Partnerships (PPs) as a Sustainable Alternative to Public Infrastructure Investments in Sri Lanka and presented research findings at webinar on the topic.
Nirmali holds a Diploma in Graphic Design from ESOFT Metro Campus and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Colombo. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Economics at the University of Colombo.
