Yuhei Miyauchi

Research Fellow

Yuhei Miyauchi is a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Prior to joining MIT, he completed his bachelor in Engineering and Masters in Economics at the University of Tokyo.
His main interest is in the market and non-market interactions of different parties in economic growth and development process. In particular, he has been conducting an analysis of the development of financial markets in developing countries. For example, he studies how the entry decision of microfinance institutions in a developing country is affected by the demand, cost, subsidies and competition of microfinance industry. His research also includes providing econometric frameworks to analyze such interaction and externality. For example, one of his papers provides an econometric framework to estimate the underlying parameters of network formation.
He is involved in LIRNEasia’s recent research efforts on Big Data for Development as a Research Fellow.
