CEO Helani Galpaya was one of the participants at the Asia regional consultation on the UN Global Digital Compact (GDC). The GDC is part of what was laid out by the UN Secretary General in his Our Common Agenda Report, and is aimed at creating an open, free, inclusive and secure internet. The Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Technology, Amandeep Singh, together with the co-facilitators of the process Sweden and Rwanda are conducting a series of regional multi-stakeholder consultations on the topic. The Asia regional consultations were supported by the German and Indian Governments and was held in New Delhi on the 21st and 22nd of March 2023. People and organisations form multiple sectors and active in internet governance, digital technology and development were invited to this two day event. The discussions focused on global digital public goods, meaningful connectivity, governance of new technology, capacity building, trust and security and other topics important in forming a new social compact in the face of digital technology.
